Mountains

Mountains cover more than two thirds of Moroccan territory and reach significant heights. Several peaks cross bar 4000 m. Toubkal, the highest peak in the country, culminating at 4167 m. The Morocco has four main mountain ranges, and is the only Maghreb country to have a huge mountain of Atlas.
First in the north, the mountains of the Rif or Jebel bordering the Mediterranean. The highest peak reaches 2,456  is called Jebel Tidirhine. The Rif offers various altitudes as its regions surfaces. In fact, in the west, we find especially thorny vegetation (firs, pines and cedars). On the other side, it grows in arid steppe and scrub and still further east, it contains hemp, which however is not harvested. Further on the Mediterranean coast and in the interior, it is possible to note three other huge chains: the Middle Atlas, High Atlas and Anti-Atlas, where we still find after a diversity of landscapes.
The Middle Atlas, which is the "water tower" of Morocco's Rif separated by arid eastern plains and fertile west. The two channels are separated by the famous patch of Taza. The Middle Atlas is composed of two parts in different landscapes. To the east, there are the massive cliffs with peaks over 3100 m as Jbel Bou Naceur or Bouiblane. These summits are experiencing significant snow falls. Westward chain softened to make way for more affordable reliefs and leaving room for a few small plates. Middle Atlas chain is bordered on the south by the High Atlas
It is in the High Atlas, majestic chain that encircles the country from east to west as the Toubkal peak at about 4167 m.

Desert

In the south, Erg Chebbi, near the Algerian border, is the second largest area of stones and sand in Morocco after Erg Chegaga. Some dunes can reach 200 meters in height

climate

The Moroccan climate is both Mediterranean and Atlantic, with a hot, dry season coupled with a cold and wet season, the end of the warm period being marked by the October rains.
The presence of the sea reduces the temperature differences, moderates the seasons and increases the moisture in the air (400 to 1000 mm of rain on the coast). In the interior, the climate varies with altitude. Summers are hot and dry, especially when the hot sirocco blows or the Chergui, summer wind from the Sahara. In this season, average temperatures are 22 ° C to 24 ° C. Winters are cold and wet with frost and snow. The average temperature then evolves - 2 ° C to 14 ° C and can drop to - 26 ° C. In mountainous areas, rainfall is very high (more than 2000 mm of rainfall Rif or 1800 mm in the Middle Atlas). The pre-Saharan and Saharan Morocco has a dry desert climate.
The climate in Morocco can be divided into seven sub-areas, as determined by the different influences experienced by the country: oceanic influences, Mediterranean, mountain, continental and Saharan.
