Tetouan (The White Dove)

There are a lot of pronunciations of this name as Tetawin, Tittaween Amazigh -the local language- name: that’s mean two eyes but the official pronunciation is Tetouan.

It located in the north, it near to the beach (the Mediterranean) a proximately 6 Km and also near M’diq, Fnideq, Some beautiful beaches (Capo Nigro, Martil, Marina Smir…)   Ceuta and 60Km from Tangier...click here to see all the map

About the climate ,Tetouan has a Mediterranean climate. Hot and dry in summer and winter costs. It is also a particularly windy area.

The old streets of this city look like at old streets of Andalusia (south of Spain) “this is due to the Muslims who are forced to leave Spain and they went to the north of Morocco…”
What you can see in Tetouan:

-La Medina : (old city of Tetouan) is registered on the world Heritage list of UNESCO.There are ramparts surrounding the town, they let pass through seven entries that are: Bab El Oqla, Bab Saaida (east), and Bab Bab Mqabare Ejjyafe (northbound), Bab Nouader (to West), Bab A, Bab Remouz (south). Inside the city, the streets are picturesque and teeming with people. The main neighborhoods, dating from the construction of the city, are: Laayoune Essania, Trankat, Rbat Aala, Bled, Rbat Asfal and Mellah.

- Places: El Feddane, Ghersa El Kébira (up varied trade), El USAA (small picturesque square)

            - Souks(markets) : Mesdaa (spices, cheeses), Sakia El Foukia (clothes) ..

And for  who love nature and excursions .Tétouan was famous for its natural sites around the city and the region. The old timers remember well Nzaha to Kitane, Dardara, Bousemlal, Martil Groura (current Cabo Negro), Abdesslam Sidi El Bhar ... The urbanization of the city and nearby locations (Martil Mdiq and generally the coastal area) led to the disappearance of most of the sites, and nature enthusiasts are turning to the region of Chefchaouen (Akchour Talasemtane).

However, some sites are temporarily protected from rapid urbanization, as Smir lagoon, which is a wetland protected under the Ramsar Convention. This site is home to many species of migratory birds during their crossing of the Detroit Other natural sites are located south of the city, on the roads of Oued Lau and Chefchaouen. We practice walking and hunting excursions (hare, partridge, wild boar).

Morocco!!!!!! But where is it in the map first?

Morocco!!!!!! But where is it in the map first?

This is the first question I get when I ask my friends around the word especially saxophone countries what do you know about Morocco?

I noticed there are not a lot of publications in the about morocco in English, unlike Arabic (the language of the country) or French (second language) “I think it’s very normal”. So I decide to write my blog in English and all content of this blog , I love traveling ,making trips in wonderful places , I will shared with you the best moments in my trips and I will show you the best places you have to see during your visit to Morocco.

Morocco
Morocco is a country in northwest Africa. Its long coastline on the Atlantic Ocean ends beyond the Strait of Gibraltar on the Mediterranean. South of Morocco is borded by Mauritania. To the east and southeast, Morocco is bordered by Algeria. At some distance from the coast are atlantiquese the Canary Islands and Madeira. North of the Strait of Gibraltar Spain is.
The administrative capital is Rabat. Among large cities found remarkable Casablanca, Agadir, Fes, Marrakech, Meknes, Tetouan, Tangier, Oujda, Ouarzazate and Laayoune.

Geography: Beach, Mountains, Desert

Beach

Long Moroccan coast about 3 500 km are highly regarded. There are a lot of beach resorts on the Mediterranean and Atlantic coast: Saidia , Nador Capo de l’eau, Mazagan , Dakhla ,Mahdia……
Morocco becomes the increasingly favorite destination for surfers especially the southern beaches.

Mountains

Mountains cover more than two thirds of Moroccan territory and reach significant heights. Several peaks cross bar 4000 m. Toubkal, the highest peak in the country, culminating at 4167 m. The Morocco has four main mountain ranges, and is the only Maghreb country to have a huge mountain of Atlas.
First in the north, the mountains of the Rif or Jebel bordering the Mediterranean. The highest peak reaches 2,456  is called Jebel Tidirhine. The Rif offers various altitudes as its regions surfaces. In fact, in the west, we find especially thorny vegetation (firs, pines and cedars). On the other side, it grows in arid steppe and scrub and still further east, it contains hemp, which however is not harvested. Further on the Mediterranean coast and in the interior, it is possible to note three other huge chains: the Middle Atlas, High Atlas and Anti-Atlas, where we still find after a diversity of landscapes.
The Middle Atlas, which is the "water tower" of Morocco's Rif separated by arid eastern plains and fertile west. The two channels are separated by the famous patch of Taza. The Middle Atlas is composed of two parts in different landscapes. To the east, there are the massive cliffs with peaks over 3100 m as Jbel Bou Naceur or Bouiblane. These summits are experiencing significant snow falls. Westward chain softened to make way for more affordable reliefs and leaving room for a few small plates. Middle Atlas chain is bordered on the south by the High Atlas
It is in the High Atlas, majestic chain that encircles the country from east to west as the Toubkal peak at about 4167 m.

Desert

In the south, Erg Chebbi, near the Algerian border, is the second largest area of stones and sand in Morocco after Erg Chegaga. Some dunes can reach 200 meters in height

climate

The Moroccan climate is both Mediterranean and Atlantic, with a hot, dry season coupled with a cold and wet season, the end of the warm period being marked by the October rains.
The presence of the sea reduces the temperature differences, moderates the seasons and increases the moisture in the air (400 to 1000 mm of rain on the coast). In the interior, the climate varies with altitude. Summers are hot and dry, especially when the hot sirocco blows or the Chergui, summer wind from the Sahara. In this season, average temperatures are 22 ° C to 24 ° C. Winters are cold and wet with frost and snow. The average temperature then evolves - 2 ° C to 14 ° C and can drop to - 26 ° C. In mountainous areas, rainfall is very high (more than 2000 mm of rainfall Rif or 1800 mm in the Middle Atlas). The pre-Saharan and Saharan Morocco has a dry desert climate.
The climate in Morocco can be divided into seven sub-areas, as determined by the different influences experienced by the country: oceanic influences, Mediterranean, mountain, continental and Saharan.
Tourism

Morocco has reached the symbolic threshold of 10 million tourists in 2013, something not seen in Africa.

Moroccan tourists residing abroad recorded 4,408,250 arrivals. We notice a predominance of European countries (84% of foreign tourists), due to the geographical proximity; Indeed the Strait of Gibraltar to Morocco facilitates home where the considerable body of French and Spanish tourists. Moreover, these two languages are most commonly spoken in the Moroccan territory, which is a major argument for the arrival of tourists.
